I think it is a good text book for in person in-class course. It is well structured. There is a workbook to accompany this textbook.

I bought the old book and sometimes it was a little confusing, the new versions definitely are better than the old ones. To me it’s the best book to start from scratch, and I tried several different books. This book is enough to pass your N4 exam. If your mother tongue is not English, it might be a bit hard to understand the explanation, although I don’t think it’s needed in most cases.

I first purchased the first edition of this textbook back in university and it was so easy to learn with! I've since repurchased the book multiple times as each copy I had was either mistakenly thrown out by family, gifted to a dear friend, or never returned by a coworker. LoL! It's THAT good! This is my fourth time purchasing this textbook and I'm thrilled with the updates in this newest edition! WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY/YEN!!

げんきは英語話者、また英語がわかる人向けの教科書です。文法用語などはみん日と違うので、使う時に気をつける必要があります。ビデオやアクティビティなどの教材などもたくさんあり、悪くないと思います。

I'm using this to teach Japanese to my students. the best thing about this series is that it comprehensively covers the basic grammar knowledge of approx. N5-N4 levels. The explanations are very detailed and they help not only students understand grammar but also teachers teach it. However the example sentences are based on the basic (and therefore not the most natural) grammatical knowledge so teachers need to have first-hand experience of how the language is actually used in daily situations and need to supplement the content in lessons.
