サクサク彫れるので荒ぼりには最適です！音→モーター音はさほど気になりませんが、彫りだすとかなりの音になるので夜は使えないですね。パワーは自分的には充分だと思ってます。重さはとくに気にならないですし、持ちやすいと思います。長い時間(連続10～15分)ほど使ってると指先が痺れるので休憩を挟むといいですね。総合的な評価は申し分なく5つ★です。後は耐久性？寿命がどれくらいもつのか？ですね。おそらく壊れたらまた同じの買うかもです。

硬い木でも楽に彫れるのは期待通りでした。家で鑿をガンガン叩くことが出来ないので、荒彫り時に大活躍できそうです。ただしそれは昼間限定。音が想像以上にうるさくて、さすがに夜中とかには出来ないかと思います。一戸建てに一人暮らしとかじゃない限りは。スイッチを入れてるだけの状態時にも音はしますが、それはまだ許容範囲内。気に押し当てている時にものすごい音がします。チェーンソー位の音が。あと、木を下に置いて彫るときは問題ないのですが、持って彫る時にはかなり手がしびれます。あの振動がずっと続くのは絶対に体に悪い気がしますので、木は下に置いて使うのを前提に考えている方が良いですよ。下に置いて彫ってもある程度の長く使ってると、終わった後も手がしびれます。定格時間は連続ですが、それを過剰に信じて本当にずーっと使って壊れたという方もいるようです。やはりモーターが熱くなったら冷やすべきですし、加える力によっては連続で使うなんてとんでもないという状況も多々あります。そこらへんは使用者しか判断できないので、私の目安としては1時間に30分間使っています。それで今の所は快調に働いてくれていますよ。音がもう少し静かで、もっと握りやすい形状だったら星5なんですけどね。それでも鑿を使わない以上、荒彫りには欠かせないツールです。

連続仕様となっていますが30分が限界でかなり本体が熱くなります。またハンマー力が弱いため柔らかい木材用（檜・檜葉・榧等）で欅など全く歯が立ちません。交換刃は他社（プロクソント・東京オートマック）とも流用できますが、刃厚は1.6と薄く軟弱にできています。（プロクソントとほぼ同じ）能力はあまり期待できず、人力と変わら無いレベルなので本格的に彫刻をされるのであれば、もう少しグレードの高い他社製を勧めます。

Since the manual is unreadable I thought I would give you some tips on using this device.First it should cut like butter and not get hot. The blades come sharp but you really need to strop these blades after each use to keep a razor sharp edge.. If you decide not to sharpen these blades the machine will get hot. There are plenty websites that tell how to do it. You should not have to push and strain this tool. It should be guided. Even on the very best tools they can get hot. I read one well known higher price power carving chisel instructions that said use for 15 minutes and rest for 15 minutes, If you are doing easy carving you can use it longer, Don't take deep cuts, slice a bit at a time. Putting a load on this machine will not make it last long. You can tell if you are abusing it by how quickly it gets hot. If it gets hot stop and rest it for a while. Getting it so hot you can't hold it is pure abuse.I have 40 very sharp chisels but am delighted when I can remove move unneeded wood easily and quickly so I can concentrate on detailing the artwork on the carving. The chisels supplied are too big for any outlining or detail work but you can get smaller chisels from Flex Cut. Most carvers use Bass Wood a hard soft wood. Pine is difficult to carve due to the grain. I hope this is helpful.

This is my second Ryobi Electric Carving knife. My first Ryobi Electric Carving knife was purchased in 1998 as part of a set with a rotary tool. I loved it then. (I lost it in a move from Virginia to West Virginia.) If you start out carving free wood, and that wood is construction site scraps, you need a tough tool. This tool is tough. The variety of blades let me work on fine details as well as larger area wood removal and stop cuts. I'm getting better at carving and this tool allows me to cut a little faster or a lot faster than standard manipulation of hand tools. I'm 60 now, and hand fatigue is a factor in productivity. I work longer because this tool is Comfortable in the hand, easy to maintain.

Used it to carve an 11 ft mantle made of cherry wood. Probably cut my carving time in half. Worked great.
